Feeling Chuft!
Wow! Another whirlwind week, which marks the start of theย final Semester of my Health Visiting course.ย ย Feeling aย little daunted about moving teams and having my own caseload of 100 children;ย in trueย ‘yarnyrobin’ fashion I created my fellow studentย Health Visitees a little crafty survival pack for their Semester 3 journey!

I think the girls liked them!ย
A special shout out to them here is also needed as yesterday we all passed our nurse prescribing exam (feeling chuft!).
I also need to thank Eleanor over at Harebells crochetย for nominating me for the creative bloggers award.ย Thank you for the nomination, I will get round to posting about that later in the week….promise.

South African yarniness…
I am soooo super excited to shareย this post with you.ย I love reading other blogs some crochet related, some not.ย ย Exploring new blogs within the community is never dull,ย but I also have my firm favourites which are always a good read and I look forward to their posts and what they have to say.
One of those firm favourites is written by Joey over at littleblackdogsaย who recently celebrated her 4th fantastic year of blogging with a give-a-way.ย Here comes the exciting bit…
I WON! Yes….. I won!ย
I received an email a few weeks ago from Joey letting me know I had won, right in the middle of a ‘research and specialist inquiry’ lecture.ย Which incidentally was soooo tediously uninteresting, that when I read the email congratulating me on my win, I was so surprised that a rather loud gasp escaped into the classroom….ooops!ย Needless to say I did not listen to the rest of the lecture, but instead ruminated what I may hook with the yarn I had won.
ย I have waited very patiently since, and then just yesterday I came home to a wonderful parcel which had made it’s way from South Africa…Isn’t this yarn simply stunning.

ย I can’t wait to hook withย this yarn and create a beautiful something or other….I’m still undecided as to what to hook, but I will be blogging about whatever it is for sure.
So if you haveย a spare couple of moments and want a really good read, popย over to South Africa and visit Joey.ย
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH JOEY!

Looking for the lovliness…
Well, I’m sorry for my noted absence, there are just two weeks left until exam and essay deadlines and to be truthfulย I’m worried that one of the boys might fall into the laundry pile and never be seen again!
I’m shattered and busy, busy, busy… my mind has many yarny creations whizzing around and I really need some colour therapy, but I feel overwhelmed and hence my hook has fallen silent (temporarily).ย So to keep my creative mind sane I have been looking for the lovliness that surrounds me daily… and taking photo’s…this is April.

But mostly these lovelies have been the loveliest…

Take a little look at this…
I couldn’t help it, I know I shouldn’t have: but I have been feeling very overwhelmed with this…

For the most part I can convince myself with the romantic notion of ย setting my boys a good example of being a hard working Momma at University, with striving ambition and an avid determination to follow your dreams. ย But, (huge sigh and just a little teardrop!)…right now it sucks! ย So you see I couldn’t help but open my birthday present a whole week early.
It is helping me with my mental health as I am so busy concentrating on learning a new skill, that there is no room for anxious thoughts about essays.
Seed stitch…oh yeah!

Saturday…
The Robins nest squares are blocking…

The artfully simple angled scarf is finished.

And the neighbour just dropped these round…ย

perfect.

Possibly the world’s smallest library and crochet of course!
Over the weekend, I stumbled upon an article in the local newspaper, which has led to a little adventure today. ย Today being a wet and grey and cold day, today being my first week day off since Christmas. ย So as you can probably imagine, today is a treasured day and one just right for a wee adventure.
ย So, after diligently completing the school run, I drove just ten little minutes into the very wet countrysideย

into a sweet little village, which I have only visited a couple of times before, for the annual scarecrow festival held in September, when it would seem the whole world turns up. ย Today, it seemed as if I was the only one here.
ย My adventure was not a wild one, but it made me feel hopeful of humanity and I did find the tiny, little library

nestled on the corner of an ordinary street…

from a little way off you would hardly guess what an alternative purpose was hidden inside,

but once inside there were treasures to behold…

and I had come prepared…a gift for the library…an old book no longer required.

So I nestled it on the shelf, wandering who would choose my book. ย I also left a little yarniness…

some cute paper clip bookmarks ,ย and I wandered some more about who would choose these…

and so with happiness in my heart, I drove the ten minutes home, feeling cold and wet…but not a bit grey

and made myself a brew, ready to come and tell you all about what is possibly the world’s smallest library, the back story of which can be found just here, and the often times, lovely spirit of humanity.

paperclip bookmarks

quick and easy and just a little bit cute.

using hot glue gun, glue a button to the top of a large paperclip…it is a good idea to bend the paperclip before gluing so that the button does not pop off on first use!

Again, using a hot glue gun, glue a crochet flower onto the button to finish. ย There are many free crochet flower patterns on the internet…but to get started you can take a look here. ย Simple.

A lost yarny Angel
Do you remember these…I think I must have given all mine away last Christmas, because I’ve searched everywhere for my host of angels and can’t find them…I think it will be off to the shops tomorrow for some pipe cleaners and some sparkly yarn.
This divine angel is made by hooking 2 small granny squares and assembling with a few bits and pieces. ย I made mine in a white yarn with a silver sparkle…the pattern is by the very talented Priscilla Hewitt ย (search Granny square angel on her site)ย and is super simple to follow and in no time at all you could have your own host….ย
