A lovely week

Well put out the crochet bunting….I’ve qualified!…a long hard slog, but it is done.ย

So of courseย celebrations have been ongoing (both alcoholic and non alcoholic), but my favourite (and the one I am going to share with you)ย was a blissful week at home, pretty much to myself.ย  Doing this sort of thing…

Feeling Chuft!

Wow! Another whirlwind week, which marks the start of theย final Semester of my Health Visiting course.ย ย Feeling aย little daunted about moving teams and having my own caseload of 100 children;ย  in trueย ‘yarnyrobin’ fashion I created my fellow studentย Health Visitees a little crafty survival pack for their Semester 3 journey!

I think the girls liked them!ย

A special shout out to them here is also needed as yesterday we all passed our nurse prescribing exam (feeling chuft!).

I also need to thank Eleanor over at Harebells crochetย for nominating me for the creative bloggers award.ย  Thank you for the nomination, I will get round to posting about that later in the week….promise.

South African yarniness…

I am soooo super excited to shareย this post with you.ย  I love reading other blogs some crochet related, some not.ย ย Exploring new blogs within the community is never dull,ย but I also have my firm favourites which are always a good read and I look forward to their posts and what they have to say.

WP_20160519_19_05_11_ProOne of those firm favourites is written by Joey over at littleblackdogsaย  who recently celebrated her 4th fantastic year of blogging with a give-a-way.ย  Here comes the exciting bit…

I WON! Yes….. I won!ย

I received an email a few weeks ago from Joey letting me know I had won, right in the middle of a ‘research and specialist inquiry’ lecture.ย  Which incidentally was soooo tediously uninteresting, that when I read the email congratulating me on my win, I was so surprised that a rather loud gasp escaped into the classroom….ooops!ย  Needless to say I did not listen to the rest of the lecture, but instead ruminated what I may hook with the yarn I had won.

ย  I have waited very patiently since, and then just yesterday I came home to a wonderful parcel which had made it’s way from South Africa…Isn’t this yarn simply stunning.

ย  I can’t wait to hook withย this yarn and create a beautiful something or other….I’m still undecided as to what to hook, but I will be blogging about whatever it is for sure.

So if you haveย  a spare couple of moments and want a really good read, popย over to South Africa and visit Joey.ย

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH JOEY!

clutching at straws

This was definitely one of the highlights of my weekend, Friday evening spent with good friends, a wee bit of ale and some awesome live folky music, all in a quirky little venue named Scary Canary. ย This trio of very talented, (and extremely humble) guys are Clutching at Straws, well worth a click on the link to take a listen for yourselves.

Pretty Pumpkins

Oh, my delight in these pretty pumpkins. ย Whilst we do not celebrate 31st October, halloween in the Robins nest, we do celebrate light in this beautiful, busy and sometimes dark world. ย As you know I love autumn,ย and pumpkins certainly contain light and autumnal(ness) in abundance.

I also love spending time with friends and that is exactly what is happening here tonight. ย We are having some very dear friends over to mark the very significant occasion of our homes transition ย from ‘no space to have anyone around’ย to ‘being able to say come on over for supper’ย a transition which has taken many years. ย

the chickens enjoyed a pumpkin feast

So with a three bean chilli and a hearty beef chilli planned for later, accompanied by a bottle or two of red, these pretty pumpkins will help to create the perfect atmosphere for chatter and laughter late into the night.

Have a fabulous week.

weaving in the ends and life….

A couple of days ago…after 3 weeks of working shifts on placement as well as working my regular job and juggling Easter holidays with the robins and studying until the wee small hours…..crazy, absolute crazy…. I had the day off!

this is what sanity looks like!
this is what sanity looks like!

Who would have thought that weaving in ends (millions of the things) could be so therapeutic… but it was. ย The warmth of the spring sunshine and the peacefulness of being by myself…the boys went off making all sorts of dens with big branches…close enough so that their laughter made my heart smile, but far enough to just allow me to breathe and weave in ends.

I love these colors

all done....just like my placement!
and the view

A busy few weeks, which explains, my absence here…it is so good to have a hook back in my hand. ย This giant granny is a long over due gift for a very special lady…who is patiently waiting. ย The colour way is delicate and pretty and of course it’s good old stylecraft special dk.

So, I need to get this wrapped and mailed, before the second wave of study hits…
