Scrumbles

These are my first attempts at scrumbles…the term given to little pieces of crochet that are hooked without pattern or chart and from the mind only. Sounds easy right? Well yes and no!
Easy yes, just put together a series of stitches in any order you like, in any yarn what so ever. And no, without guidelines it felt a little strange at first…was I hooking a mistake…
from what I have read there is no right or wrong way to hook up a scrumble.
So what do you do with these scrumbles? Well that’s easy too… freeform.
Freeform crochet has fascinated me for many, many months now. It has also scared me a little too if I’m honest. But, it is so beautiful that I just had to have a go.
So these are my scrumbles…I’ve jumped in and I’m glad that I have. These scrumbles are destined for my new pattern that I will be sharing with you very soon.

colour ways

This is not my idea, but how clever to keep a record of your favourite yarns and to use as a tool to make colour choices. I chose the colours below for a blanket I am making and it took well over 2 hrs to painstakingly choose them, looking at my screen trying to decide if the colour way was just right… this will make it so much easier in future and certainly more fun!

Stylecraft DK Special is my all time, go to yarn, because it has an amazing choice of 60 colours, it is washable, dryable, durable and affordable!
I think this is a great idea…..thanks Lucy x
Yarnpom!
Operation pompom
Following the creation of my pompom board on pinterest and being inspired by so many different ways to make pompoms, my excited and inspired mind whizzed and whizzed, whilst my hands made more and more pompoms…

and before I knew where I was… I was sitting under an avalanche of prettiness. This yarny magnificence was also, if the truth be told, a welcome distraction from the University application which I should have been filling in!

It wasn’t long before this clutch of fluffiness had been strung together for one yarny purpose
yarnpomming!

I just need to find the right place now… so give me a couple of days and I will show you my yarnpom reveal.
Tiddly…um..pom…pom
Following my flirting with pompoms the other day which led to the creation of yet another pinterest board, today I have experimented with different ways of making pompoms. Not only have I learnt new techniques that are sheer genius, I have also de-stashed and Operation Pompom has commenced also… but, more about that some other time.
