Apologies for my distinct absence lately… I’ve found myself waking each morning yearning to create and yet by the time I’m home from work and the chores are done and I have the opportunity to hook, that a severe melancholy rises up from within and my hook stays in it’s case….
I fear I may have lost my crojo!!!
I’ve looked high and low…I have tried and tried… I have put my hooks away and I have got them back out… I’ve thumbed the delightful pages of books and magazines… trawled through many of your lovely project pages on ravelry, where fleetingly my heart skipped at so many inspiring creations, only to find myself with yarn and hook in hand and still no hooking action.

My brother dropped round last week, to my horror with the blanket I had made as a wedding present last year. It had a hole in it and he wanted me to repair it, as now the evenings are chillier, the blanket is required once more. A hole!!!!
As I mended, I certainly didn’t feel inspired and worried about other gifts I had made… what if?….!!!!

With the repair done and my brother gone, I reflected that actually, that wedding blanket is super heavy and probably with hindsight, should have had a more substantial joining method than the pretty but delicate flat braid join that I gave it… hence the hole. I did take some close up pics to cheer my soul a little…

It is a very pretty blanket.
In other news, Little Jess has finally found a best friend in Alfie and this has really warmed my heart, after 2 weeks of grumbling and growling our Alf decided that Jess was not so bad after all.

Importantly, the evenings are now drawing in nicely, I so love this time of year,

drawing the curtains, lighting the candles and snuggling in for the evening… what could be better… maybe just a little crochet

Should I happen across your crojo I’ll happily send it on it’s way back to you. I’m glad to see Jess and Alfie are best of friends they are adorable and what a very pretty blanket and I think your right the weight is the problem and no need to worry about other gifts.

I don’t crochet so have no crojo myself, but I have a fair bit of enthusiasm! I’ve packaged it up and it should be with you soon!! I love the wedding blanket, it’s beautiful.

I shall have a good hunt around here and see if I can locate a bit of spare crojo to send your way, failing that I could always send Aunt Maud round, she’s quite an inspiration in her own slightly eccentric fashion, all she’ll ask in return is a nice hot cuppa and a couple of bourbons.
From what you’ve said I’m sure the wedding blanket was just a little heavy for the joining method you used and all your other lovely makes will be just fine.
Hope you find your crojo soon.

You might have used it up on that blanket as it is exquisite! I hope you get it back because it’s like a round robin with inspiration of any kind….you take it in, get inspired and then make something which in turn inspires someone else to make something….and on and on and on. And at this time of year with holidays looming and presents planned we all need lots of “crojo”!
How about perusing crochet blogs, picking up some books and magazines, ordering some yarn or visiting a LYS? Maye you are being directed to add a new skill or a new craft? Has there been something else you’ve been wanting to try? You’ll get it back for sure but first listen to what your soul is trying to tell you. Have a great week!

I’ll send you some crojo! 😉 Seriously, though, I know what you mean. I go through periods like that when I just find it really difficult to motivate myself and when, despite various tempting projects, I still lack the inspiration to pick up the needles or the crochet hook. Just give yourself some time, the crojo will come back. 🙂 x

That’s the way I’ve been feeling too. I’m in hospital 13 weeks and was dying to start a blanket then my mum promised everyone I’d make them one for free so I’ve 37 to make and no patterns. My crochet stuff was stolen whilst I’ve been in hospital and I recently lost my job due to my health worsening. I’d just used my savings too to buy yarn for these blankets which I was hoping they’d at least pay for it but it was stolen too. I’m a beginner but I feel like giving up 😦

Hi Gemma,
I’m really sorry to hear of your recent misfortune, it sounds like your in a really hard place right now.
All I can say is be gentle on yourself and know that after the rain there is a rainbow. It’s tough that your Mom promised things on your behalf and maybe it would be easier in the long run if you are honest and realistic… I have been hooking for 6 years almost constantly and have not even made 20 blankets, right now you need to look after you. I will pray for you x

I thought I was the only one who loves this time of year. I was in a slump with my crochet this year too. I started with a simple hat, and now I have my Crojo back! You’ve got this!!!
