I have spent a lot of my time recently walking my dogs across the field that is behind our house.Â

I used to do this often when I worked less, so to be able to have space to do this again has been refreshing. However, this has been bothering me…

This gate opens onto a very busy road. You can just about see that some kind soul has taken a sharpie pen to ask that folk shut the gate…but, it was still bothering me.Â
It bothered me for two reasons. The first, the gate is still left open and the second reason, the sharpie pen instruction just didn’t look pretty!Â
So, I got out my stash and my hook
and began hooking a simple but very happy double crochet striped affair.
I added a sweet little sewn request

and a cute little ladybird
Then I headed off with a pocket full of yarn and a darning needle to complete this yarny gate installation.

Your request looks much prettier. Useful yarn bombing! Love it!
hehe…it is still on the gatepost this evening and the gate is shut!
Yay! I hope it stays up for a long time. 🙂
Lovely idea
it certainly was fun to hook!
Love this, what a creative and helpful crochet bomb!
Thank you, it looks a little pulled just now, but I have manipulated it back into shape. The gate is closed though!
That is awesome. I hope they appreciate the little lady bug and keep the gate shut.
Even though I have to say, I live in a pretty nice place, but we also have gates that needs to be kept shut. Only the electric gate that shuts itself is closed, the rest left open. Maybe I should follow your example and also put a little note on the gates. 🙂 Even if it only helps to get people to smile at least. 🙂
ooh, yes make one! If you make one I’d like to see a photo x
What a nice thing to do!!! I love when creative and practical collide to make happy little projects like this!! 😀
It was quick to make, so it gave me that instant win feeling!
Love this! Your yarnbomb is awesome!
Thank you Emma. The best bit is watching people smile as they come through the gate!
Absolutely LOVE it! What a happy colourful thing to do! I am sure it will make many people smile, but not as much as you will every time you see it x
